As a blogger I receive many perks. All you can drink coffee provided by…myself. The chance to work from home, in my pajamas, without pay. The opportunity to introduce myself in the douche-iest way possible by telling people I meet,”I’m a blogger” and occasionally – free stuff.
I have always heard about the megaton of perks and freebies bloggers receive; clothing, electronics, makeup, shoes, car parts etc. I have never received (hardly) any of these things. This is probably because I have a “niche” blog which roughly translates to “hardly anyone reads me” (60K per month as opposed to 1-2 million for real blogs). Secretly I suspect I don’t get as much free stuff as I deserve because it takes me forever to get to the point and I use words like “douche-iest”. No matter. My luck is turning because I recently received a little book called Tattoo Super Models.
This hard bound, full color book is 138 pages of gorgeous, naked tattooed women. Period. No text, no bios, no qualifiers (unless you include the briefest of introductions). It’s all photographs and they are stunning. Truly. Talented photographer Christian Saint didn’t invent hot naked tattooed women but he probably has the best Rolodex ever because the book is chock full of them.
The quality of the photographs is excellent – beautiful color saturation and lighting, interesting backgrounds and barely there costumes. Mr. Saints 20 years of experience in the fashion and advertising industry is evident in these sumptuous photos. Over all it is tastefully done with the poses being more reminiscent of Playboy than Hustler (ie lots of nipples and bottoms but that is all). It is a tattooed cheesecake paradise with a bevy of absolutely stunning models.
If you are looking for a Suicide Girls style celebration of diversity this is not it. Through no fault of their own these models are uniformly; thin, young, classically pretty, and almost entirely Caucasian. But you wouldn’t buy this book for a big social statement anyways. It is eye candy pure and simple and sweetly done.
It is always amazing to me to see very heavy ink on very young people (early 20’s, which looks to be the median age of the models). I am also surprised to see such heavy ink on such beautiful women as well. What does that say about me and my own prejudices? If I was born a stunner would I have shied away from having a lot of tattoos? I guess I’ll never know. But I salute these young women and their bold and varied ink. Good for them – they are breaking all the rules in terms of what is “acceptable” for a young woman and a traditionally pretty woman.
Interestingly the models who have minimal ink seem almost luridly naked in comparison to the models who are heavily covered. It’s an interesting juxtaposition. The naked breasts and bums covered with tattoos seem less exposed than the expanses of creamy white arms and thighs without ink.
I know you are pissed I didn’t include a bunch of photos – waste of opening a link you cry! But the book comes sealed in plastic and I only have permission to use the cover image. If you like what you see there you will love the whole book – I promise. My copy is getting wrapped and going in my husbands stocking – making me look like a super-cool wifey.
